how nutrition supports intervention
Proper nutrition during the preschool years is essential because it supports the rapid growth and development that occurs during early childhood. Young children need a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins, and healthy fats to fuel brain development, strengthen their immune systems, and support healthy physical growth. Nutritious foods also play an important role in helping children maintain energy, focus, and engagement throughout the day, which directly impacts their ability to learn and participate in classroom activities. Establishing healthy eating habits at an early age not only supports immediate well-being but also lays the foundation for lifelong health, academic success, and positive relationships with food.
Nutrition as a Foundation for Learning
Recent reductions in federal and state funding for preschool programs have made it increasingly difficult for early childhood programs to provide essential supports that young children need to thrive. As resources become more limited, community support plays a critical role in ensuring that children continue to receive the nutrition necessary for healthy growth and development. Funding will help support the provision of nutritious, vitamin-rich foods for all preschool students, including fresh fruits, vegetables, and healthy protein options. Providing healthy morning and afternoon snacks promotes overall wellness while ensuring children have the nourishment they need to learn, grow, and remain engaged throughout the day. Offering a variety of wholesome foods also encourages children to try new flavors and develop positive, healthy eating habits early in life. These experiences help build a strong foundation for lifelong nutrition, well-being, and school readiness.
How GHPI Fosters Growth
By offering nutritious morning and afternoon snacks, we encourage children to explore different flavors and balanced options. This fosters positive eating habits that will benefit their health and well-being long after they leave our program.
Please Donate today
We are seeking program funding through grants and private donations to strengthen and expand our services. Funding will also allow us to expand services to fully utilize our program capacity and to purchase essential therapy materials, classroom supplies, and meal program resources. With this support, we will be able to service approximately 50 children in our area who are currently in need of critical, life-changing services before they age out of preschool eligibility.
